The silence of all these respectable moderates, who were so worried about academic freedom is deafening. All these NYT opinion writers - where are you? [add a Travolta gif here]
P.S. I also would like to remind you that Florida is not the first state to kill the concept of tenure.

Воно працює ширше, ніж грантова система на дослідження.
"До гудзиків претензії є?" Насправді, є - і в академії були переслідування/системні бар'єри, і за її межами. Відокремлювати академію, можливо, особливого сенса нема, але і забувати про її специфічні системні проблеми - теж не можна, як на мене.
Ти правий, дійсно мій текст можна було так прочитати, хоча я і не мав цього на увазі. Думав, що системність (наявність державної машини) важливіша за "поодинокі випадки" - і сприймав це як дефолтну думку.

Date: 2023-03-09 01:29 am (UTC)У мене саме склалося не те враження. Лінгвістична проблема, так. Треба мені переймати звичку одної співробітниці починати значну частину фраз в суперечці з "я почула, що ти сказав Х, я правильно почула?" 3/4 суперечок таким чином виходить уникати
Про Флориду згадав, бо точно знаю, що нічо підписувати для отримання фінансування там не треба.
В Каліфорнії треба підписати (оце сьогодні проклацував UC систему), що "I am not supported by, dependent on, or otherwise affiliated with N.Korea, Syria, Iran, China, or Russia" Не можу передати, який я радий бачити останнє слово в цьому списку :)
