Cherchez un "moderate"
Oct. 25th, 2022 10:22 pmTwo years ago there was a lot of talk about Dems alienating the so-called moderates. Defunding the police etc. - all this was supposed to drive thr Dem vote down.
Okay, what do we have after those two years? Police funding keeps increasing across the country - from NYC to LA. What about other moderate values? Deficit reduction? Done. Hawkish foreign policy? I am not 100% happy but still a great improvement compared to Tr*mp. Bringing jobs back to America? Done - from the CHIP act to infrastructure investment - we see a lot of progress there. In fact, we see so much progress that companies are struggling to hire workers.
All in all, it seems like we're living a moderates' dream.
We have an election in two weeks. Does anybody think we're going to see a "moderate wave"? If not - how do we even know those moderates exist? If moderate-friendly policies do not convert into moderate votes - what's the sense of having those policies in the first place?
